Cuicacalli's music program, directed by Ariane Cortes, is providing more access to music for the youth of the Mission District and the Bay  area.  Students learn to make beautiful music mariachi style through a combination of individual coaching, small ensemble and full class learning circles. Students will explore various music forms, such as rancheras, boleros, son jalisciense, huapangos, and contemporary traditional music.  Students will also hone their skills in voice and mariachi instruments including guitar, trumpet, violin, guitarrón and vihuela.

Mariachi La Misión connects music, history and culture of Mexico through the art form that brings together all generations.

 

Students must provide own instrument. Some experience needed.
